Over the past 2 weeks I've had two friends with cancer give some updates.

One is struggling really hard and hoping to gain enough strength to go through some tough therapies. He's beat cancer 3 times, but this seems to be the worst.

The other, who has had cancer for several years and has fought very hard to keep an active life (always running marathons etc.), just found out that the cancer has spread to his chest and shoulder. The doctors want to remove his left leg, hip, and pelvis and then beam the rest with radiation/chemo etc. The chances he'd survive the surgery itself is less than 50%. He has decided against it and will stick with chemo and will try to hold out as long as he can.

These types of things always make me think about my own situation. Obviously, I have nothing like cancer, but it definitely has an effect on quality of life. Seeing both of them fight so hard to maintain a quality life only emboldens me to do more and be more. Length of life isn't what's important, it's how well that life is led and who you can touch along the way.

I am sorry. I hope all of you feel better. I have a mental condition that will last throughout my life. It is hard for me, too. Sometimes I wonder why even live? Take care.
